It was going to be a big year for the King family in Wiltshire with a 50th, 21st and 18th birthday all falling within the same year and they contacted us to help plan this big celebration and hire of the marquee.
With 100 guests invited for a drinks reception, dining and disco, we met them at their home in Malmesbury and after measuring the garden it was concluded the garden was not large enough to accommodate their plans. They contacted a local Malmesbury farmer and he kindly agreed to allow them to use a field so the planning of the marquee could now accommodate all the requirements.
The marquee was made up of several areas. A 6m x 6m reception area that would also create a chill out area for later, this was decorated with fairy light lighting and had sofas and coffee tables.
The dining area was behind a reveal wall and was decorated to complement the Spring timing of the event with the wonderful flowers being supplied by Rachel Lowe from Bath.
The client’s selected black carpet and black seat pads on limewash Chaivari chairs, crystal chandeliers and all the tableware, linen and catering equipment was supplied by our catering equipment division www.celebrationeventhire.co.uk
The sub-frame woodfloor was required to create a level surface in the field and this also helped to keep the marquee warm and dry.
With the party being in February, we included a cloakroom marquee to cover the toilet trailer so the guests would not have to leave the marquee and Chew Valley Hire provided a contemporary styled toilet trailer.
As one of the guests required wheel chair access, we installed a ramp to the entrance, the sub-frame woodfloor created a smooth surface throughout and the disabled toilet unit was supplied by Mendip Toilet Hire.
Many of the guests were travelling down from Manchester University and a sleeping area including mirrors, power points and heating ensured these guests could stay in the marquee.
Polly Parsons from www.hasslefreeweekends.co.uk in Gloucestershire provided superbly canapés, dinner and staff for the bar. The trio of desserts reflected the favourite choices of Angela, Catherine and Rachel.
The disco was provided by Kevin at Reflex Productions. He provided background music during the drinks reception, microphones for the speeches and kept the dance floor full all night, combining the music preferences from everyone.
For such a special occasion, it was decided to have a professional photographer - Peter Smart from Swindon. He also provided a photo studio with lots of props.
Lovely complements about the evening were received from many guests and the King family enjoyed celebrating with their friends and family to mark this special year.
